Mon March 01: Cornish Week at Gerrans School - Today: Geevor mine will be coming to Gerrans School. Pupils will find out what it was like to work underground as well as the geology of the west coast.
Tues March 02: Cornish Week at Gerrans School - Today:
KS1 pasty making. If you can help with this let Mrs. Lock know. KS2 planting Cornish crops in our school garden ( KS2 pupils bring gardening clothes and wellies)
In the afternoon KS2 are going on a historic walk of Portscatho, would you like to join us?
Wed March 03: Cornish Week at Gerrans School - Today: Mark the Miner will spending the morning with us, sharing his stories and experiences about what life was really like underground at South Crofty Tin mine.
Thurs March 04: Cornish Week at Gerrans School - Today:
Phil and Julian our National Trust Wardens will be sharing with KS2 how they manage and take care of our coastlines.
Fri March 05: Cornish Week at Gerrans School - Today:
We will be finding out about St Piran and other Cornish Saints and enjoying a pasty lunch for school dinner. Years 3 and 4 have been invited to Woodland Valley ( details to follow) to join in a Cornish day with other Roseland schools.
Throughout the week there will be other classroom activities going on – I believe Little Choughs are boarding a pirate ship! KS1 will be history detectives with Gerrans Heritage Centre. We round up the week with a Cornish Cabaret afternoon. Please join us at 3pm for a Cornish tea and entertainment.
Sat March 06: Celebrate St Piran’s Day with an evening of music, poetry and drama at St Just in Roseland Institute, including Cornish songs from Jane Curtis, Poetry from the St Mawes Panto Crowd, The Gray Family and Friends, Lively Drama from St Mawes Youth, Resident Group - Golden Guitars. Tickets on the Door - £5 including refreshments
