How we started

Roseland Community Transport was established at the end of 2006 after public opinion expressed a strong need for the necessity for a community bus for individuals to be able to access healthcare, other services and to link up with the major bus routes. Local community groups also expressed an interest in the bus so they could go on trips as one group rather than taking their cars. The minibus had to be suitable for moving around the rural area, at a moderate cost. After much help and funding from Cornwall Transport Partnership and The Lottery enough money was raised and a minibus was obtained and is now in operation.

However all the administrative and maintenance costs that we accrue every year have to be funded by our own endeavours and donations.

The Bus

The minibus is an Iveco Iris minibus; it has 16 passenger seats, a rear door ramp lift for those with mobility difficulties or wheelchairs. We only allow persons who have done specific minibus training to drive our bus. The vehicle is fully insured and is regularly serviced.

How to use us

Community Groups

All types of community groups on The Roseland and surrounding parishes can hire the minibus. Each organisation must be registered with Roseland Community Transport (no fee) before they can hire the minibus.

Cost: 

Up to 4 hours £30, with the first 25 miles free, then 70p per mile thereafter.

Over 4 hours £55, with the first 40 miles free, then 70p per mile thereafter.

The minibus will be fully fuelled and clean at the start of each hire and should be left in the same state at the end of the hire.

Excursions

These are day excursions, reasonably priced, to places of interest and events throughout Cornwall and occasionally over the border into Devon. The excursions are advertised locally in shops, on notice boards and in parish magazines. Passengers will be collected from anywhere on The Roseland.

Sponsorship

To raise much needed funds to maintain the bus, we are selling space on the side panels of the bus for local companies to advertise. A quarter panel is £125 with a full panel being £500 both prices do not include the cost of the artwork.
